Welcome to BitWorm
BitWorm is one man’s journey into the realm of professional writing. It is a portfolio. It is a creative oulet. It is my way of practicing one of my favorite art forms – writing – while having an excuse to enjoy another art form that I hold near and dear – video games.
What You Can Expect
BitWorm came to fruition from a desire to create a space for myself where I can put to practice some of the things that I’ll be learning over the coming weeks, months, and years as a new writer. You should expect to see changes all the time; to format, to content types, to release schedules, and to quality. The goal is to learn and to improve and to hopefully see that reflected here.
Video games and the games industry will be my primary muse. Some of the posts that you can expect to find here will come in the form of Previews, Reviews, Listicles, and Editorials. There will also be a breadth of other formats that I’ll be exploring as I figure out what writing in this space means to me. I’ll also be including personal anecdotes and the occasional post that documents my artistic journey, all in the name of flexing my creative muscles.
About Me
As far as my experience in the video games industry is concerned, I’ve never worked on a game, but there’s always been a voice in the back of my mind that’s told me that it’d be an exciting proposition. Over the years, I’ve become disillusioned with that notion. What with the high turnover rates, development crunch, and the overall mistreatment of creatives within the field; it’s clear to me that being a game developer isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.
However, those things haven’t stopped me from consuming games and learning about them as though it were my part time job.
Concerning my experience with writing, I’ve been writing for about 10 years now, but never in a professional setting before starting BitWorm. Writing has been the method that I’ve used to collect my thoughts. It’s helped me to make sense of the world. Until now, it’s been a generally personal experience for me.
